How to Get Clients With Your Personal Brand (3 Pillars)
Jan 23, 2024You’re an aspiring thought leader who wants to grow your brand, get clients, and make a real impact on the world.
But right now, nobody is taking you seriously.
Your message isn’t being heard.
You’re posting into the void.
Or worse, you're too afraid to post because you feel like an impostor.
Who are you to be teaching things on the internet?
So, you choose procrastination as an alternative.
You tinker around with your website, your funnel, and your online course instead.
You’re unsure of how to start putting your message out there — in a way that doesn’t feel cringy.
You don’t want to look like you’ve become a cheap car salesman…
You also don’t have an actual offer to sell yet— so there’s no chance of you making any money.
You would sell something, if you could only figure out what you’re best suited to offer.
Here’s the question…
What if there was a way to start putting your message out in the world that felt totally comfortable and authentic?
What if you could hit “publish” on a YouTube video without cringing at the thought of what your family and friends are going to think about it?
Even better…
What if you could tell people about your coaching program with full confidence and certainty — because you knew you could deliver on it 100% of the time?
What if these people bought your program, because they could see the clear value that it had?
There are 3 Pillars necessary to make this happen, and you’re about to learn them so you can go build this in your business.
When I was a kid, I used to go to the mall a lot.
There was an asian restaurant in the food court that always had someone standing outside the counter with a tray.
On the tray there were pieces of orange chicken with a toothpick. They were handing out samples.
I can’t tell you how many times I ate the chicken...
Said “Mmmmm” while looking at the person...
Then found myself walking towards the counter and ordering a dish that contained the chicken, noodles, and vegetables.
It wasn’t until decades later that I understood just how wise that Asian restaurant was.
They had all three pillars in place that allowed them to make predictable sales and create happy customers.
We’re going to go over what each one is because it’s the same three things that you’ve got to have in place if you want to start getting the authority and clients that you crave.
Pillar #1 — Irresistible Offer
The Asian restaurant would not have been successful if their food was bad. The chicken — and the full entrees — had to be damn good.
When I tasted the chicken sample, my trust grew. I thought “wow, the rest of their food must be good, too”. And, it was. I enjoyed their food and kept returning.
Your business needs an offer if you want to make money. But, just any offer won’t do. It needs to be an irresistible offer. It should stand out from the crowd.
When you tell a potential customer about your offer, their eyebrows should raise — just like mine did when I tasted the chicken.
Figuring out your “niche” is for the purpose of creating your offer.
When you get clear on:
- who the offer is for
- the tangible result it delivers
- how it is unique
This will light the path to creating your Irresistible Offer.
Pillar #2 — Demonstration Mechanism
I want to point out the obvious difference between the Asian restaurant and all the other restaurants in the food court…
They were handing out samples!
And, they always had the longest line at their counter.
It blows my mind that the other restaurants never caught onto this.
What the restaurant was doing — by having someone standing out there handing out chicken — was demonstrating their product.
You need a way to demonstrate what you can do for people.
If you’re just posting surface level content and saying “DM me”...
Then trying to get someone on a call to sell them…
That would be like if the Asian restaurant was just waving people over from behind the counter…
Not giving out samples…
And just saying “buy my food”.
Also, the person handing out samples would always gesture me towards to the counter after I ate the chicken.
She would say something like “chicken dish + any 3 vegetables for $7.99” and I’d find myself getting out my wallet.
A Demonstration Mechanism shows off your product and asks them to take the next step.
Pillar #3 — Traffic Source
This Asian restaurant had the benefit of being in the mall, which, back in the day, always had a ton of people walking through it.
They placed themselves in a high foot traffic area to ensure they would have eyeballs.
Then they could just shove the chicken tray in front of those eyeballs and the rest of the process was seamless.
One of the biggest reasons most coaches and thought leaders don’t get more clients for their business is because they just don’t have eyeballs.
You could have the best food in the world…
Be standing there with the sample tray ready to hand it out…
But if your restaurant is in Antarctica, it’s going to fail, because no one will see it.
You need a reliable traffic source to bring all of this together, or your business will never work.
You need eyeballs.
When you have all 3 pillars:
- Irresistible offer
- Demonstration mechanism
- Traffic source
These three pieces that work in sync to bring clients into your business predictably.
