Do You Dread Sales Calls (And Want To Outsource Them)?

Feb 08, 2021

You show up to the sales call on time, sit on the line for 10 minutes, and the prospect never shows up.

Ghosted again. You should be mad about this.

Instead...you actually feel relieved.

Weird, right? Because without sales calls and closes, you have no clients and no business.

So why do you actually feel sort of happy that you got ghosted?

This was me during the 5 years that I coached in the real estate investing space.

And, when the prospects did show up - I often taught so much on the call that I repelled them from ever becoming clients.

(Which also sometimes caused a strange sense of relief)

I couldn't stand the "sales" part of my business.

Then one day I had a genius idea...

"Why don't I just hire a sales guy and have HIM take all of my sales calls?"

"Then I'll be free from the part of the business that I hate!"

So I did. And (shocker), it didn't work out.

One reason was that I lacked the volume for him (not enough opportunities).

But, I also struggled to train him too.

I struggled to get him bought into the "vision" I had for my product.

I couldn't get him excited.

And this guy is a go-getter, self motivated and bound for massive success.

So what was the real problem?

I simply wasn't excited about what I did anymore.

I was burned out and ready to follow my real passions as a coach.

I knew I had to make some big changes.

I pulled the plug on the real estate coaching entirely.

I started helping coaches and experts create the business that THEY would love to have (my dream).

I took the first slew of sales calls for my new program, and guess what...

I really enjoyed them!

I couldn't wait to connect with that coach on the other line - that person with a mission in their heart - and talk about how they could get their message out to the world.

Then I was like:

"Shit, I don't really need a sales guy anymore"

I had to part ways with the rockstar that I had hired.

It wasn't until I shifted to the right coaching business for me that I discovered the REAL problem..

The REAL thing that was causing me to avoid sales (Oh, I also procrastinated a lot in marketing too).

Love for what you do and who you serve has to start with you as the business owner. As the coach.

Love for your program has to start with you.

You can outsource a task.

You can't outsource passion.

If you're experiencing these symptoms, you might need a greater level of alignment with the your business.

This means doing one or more of the following:

1) Shifting the type of client you serve to the one that gives you the most energy

2) Shifting the type of problem you solve to something you're currently very passionate about

3) Creating an offer you love to sell, fully believe in, and can't wait to deliver on

It wasn't until this happened to me that I looked at the coaching industry as a whole and said:

"Damn, I bet it's not just me. Lots of people are probably struggling with this"

By the way, when I brought all this up in a room full of 100 successful coaches in my mastermind...

Multiple people said they were going through the same thing.

So if this is you, a) you're not alone and b) there's a solution if you're willing to reach out and grab it.

When you set your coaching business up so that you're aligned with the client, niche, and offer, you will feel a 10 out of 10 level of excitement and enthusiasm for the work you do each day.

For the marketing, the sales, the delivery, all of it.

Procrastination and avoidance of any part of your business will dissolve.

You will also have ample time needed to invest into the important relationships in your life, and into your health and hobbies as well.

(You can't fully love your business if it steals time away from the other things you love)

What I shared above is the main thing I address in my 6 week 1-on-1 workshop that takes coaches who are burned out by their business to having created their ideal coaching business and enrolled their first group of clients.

I also address defining your ideal lifestyle and workload as a coach and choosing the right delivery model to support that, as well how to create a healthy transition plan from your existing business to your new one.

If interested, shoot me a DM to see if you'd be a fit. I'll know within a short back-and-forth if it makes sense for you or not. If so, we can get you started next week.
